Uniqlo for Gender Fluidity.

Uniqlo in Manchester City Centre has finally merged the men and women’s clothing sections for basis of gender identity problems and gender fluidity.

Additionally, Uniqlo is a high street and online fashion retailer founded in Japan in March of 1949 and operated only as a men’s clothing line. This changed in May of 1984 as the brand became a unisex casual-wear store that sold to both men and women. The company operates worldwide including Manchester City Centre.

As society becomes egalitarian (Equal), there is a demand from communities in the Manchester City Centre such as the gender neutrals, gender fluids etc. for inclusion when it comes to fashion and style. Furthermore, the brand has decided to merge the men’s and women’s clothing sections to provide options for people who identify as gender’s order than male or female. Uniqlo even provides gender neutral changing rooms in the city centre.

I spoke to an employee called Sarah about the spontaneous decision to merge the men’s and women’s clothing isle into one section and she replied:

The brand has been doing this all across the country and around the world and it just turns-out that the Manchester City Centre is the latest to incorporate this inclusion method.

Uniqlo provides gender neutral changing rooms and toilets and there are debates on whether gender neutral changing or toilets are safe or not.

On the other hand, this is well received by the gender neutral and gender fluid communities on twitter as they only see hope of further inclusion.

Uniqlo parent company fast retailing has posted record annul figures while expecting even better results throughout the coming year. The company’s worldwide sales figures has risen to 26.6% in 2019 being the reason for an expansion at the Manchester City Centre.

The fluctuation in their sales figures and profit margins has only occurred since they began merging the men and women’s clothing sections to create an environment where inclusion is a priority.

Prior years before the inclusion method was incorporated, the company’s sales figures went up by 10% which is not bad when compared to the level of competition out there, especially in the Manchester City Centre as high street retailers such as River Island, Topman and Zara aren’t necessarily using the inclusion method – where the men and women’s clothing sections are merged together and an array of styles and fashion trends are available for people of all genders.
